Dr. Jocelyn Lieb is a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Skin & Laser Center of NJ. She bases all of the care offered at her dermatology practice on the most current information and cutting-edge technology in order to ensure her medical and cosmetic patients alike are getting the best possible experience and results. Known especially for her work with lasers, she is also adept at administering injections and microneedling, guiding her team in providing these treatments with exceptional compassion.
My daughters and I have been going to Skin and Laser Center for many years. Dr. Lieb and her staff have always been welcoming and professional. We have had services such as skin cancer screening, chemical peels, facials and fillers. The Physician Assistants Ann Marie and Zena are some of our favorites. They take the time to explain the procedures that you need and are concerned that the customer was satisfied with their service. We will continue going to Skin and Laser Center of NJ.
Early detection of skin cancer is a critical step in getting an effective treatment. The sooner a cancerous lesion is discovered and diagnosed, the sooner the proper treatment can be started. Routine skin exams with an experienced dermatologist at a reputable dermatology office are important, but so are regular at-home skin checks. You are the first line of defense when it comes to your skin! If you notice something unusual, you can point it out to your dermatologist to be sure it gets the attention it needs. When looking for suspicious moles, spots, or bumps, remember the ABCs of skin exams:
Be wary of lesions with halves that “don’t match.” Look for unusual shapes or spots with parts that extend out instead of appearing generally circular.
Lesions with scalloped, notched, indistinct, “blurry,” or otherwise irregular edges may be worrisome. Be sure to point any of these out.
Cancerous lesions may develop an unusual coloration, such as black, blue, or white, or they may be multi-colored instead of uniformly brown.
Larger lesions are more worrisome than smaller ones. Keep an eye out for spots that have a diameter larger than a typical pencil eraser.
Any spot or bump that changes its shape, color, size, or other characteristics relatively rapidly could be cause for concern.
Another thing to regularly look for on your skin is the “ugly duckling.” If you find a mole or spot that stands out—as in doesn’t look like the other moles and spots around it—show it to your dermatologist.
Dr. Jocelyn Lieb emphasizes the importance of cutting-edge technology to maximize patient care, which is why Skin & Laser Center of NJ offers VECTRA WB360. This whole-body imaging system is made for dermatology, taking only a single capture to create a thorough and detailed image of a patient’s skin. The resulting imaging can be used in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of dermatology issues, including lesions and diseases.
