Restylane® at New Jersey’s Skin & Laser Center of NJ could be considered the Swiss army knife of cosmetic treatments. While we offer many procedures that effectively address our patients’ aesthetic concerns—smoothing out wrinkles, adding youthful volume to lips or undereye hollows, or enhancing definition of the cheeks and chin—Restylane® is capable of achieving all of these aesthetic goals. Restylane® harnesses the power of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that the body produces that helps hydrate the skin, adding volume and generally resulting in a youthful appearance.
Like BOTOX® and JUVEDERM®, Restylane® is an injectable treatment, meaning that New Jersey-area women and men can enjoy the incredible range of benefits with a simple half-hour appointment requiring no surgery or downtime. The Restylane® family of products includes several unique gel formulations, each of which serves a unique and specific purpose. The injectors at Skin & Laser Center of NJ are here to discuss your health and concerns and recommend the best treatment for you.

A Restylane® session at Skin & Laser Center of NJ takes about half an hour, though administering the injectable gel itself only takes a few minutes. We recommend arriving half an hour before your appointment to take photographs and apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment area.
Prior to your appointment, there are steps you can take to help maximize your results and healing. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and blood thinning medications for seven days before your appointment. The provider administering your injections will use an ultrafine needle, and you may experience a slight pinching sensation. Several of the formulas include lidocaine to help reduce discomfort. You can return to work or your usual routine right away following your Restylane® treatment.
While you’ll be able to see some positive results just after your appointment, the full impact may take a few weeks to materialize. You will be able to resume your usual routine right away, though it is important to follow aftercare instructions to maximize your results and accelerate healing. Avoid touching your face and applying makeup for 24 hours. It’s also important not to schedule dental work for two weeks before and after your treatment and avoid flying on a plane for one week afterward. Exposure to direct sunlight or heat can irritate your skin, causing inflammation and delaying your skin’s healing. You will also be advised to avoid strenuous activity for several days following your appointment.
Risks including bruising, swelling, nodules, and intravascular injections. Patients can take an Arnica or Bromelain supplement for seven days before and after your appointment to help mitigate bruising and swelling. These supplements can be purchased at our office following your appointment.
