There is no preparation needed for this treatment. You can continue your skincare routine heading into your appointment. But please arrive at the office with clean skin, no make-up, lotion or sunscreen.
When you arrive at the office, the procedure will be explained again, and you will sign an informed consent for treatment. Your pre-procedure photographs will be taken, the treatment area will be cleansed, and numbing cream may be applied (if you arrive early and if you request this). The area will be cleansed again before the procedure.
During the treatment, a layer of ultrasound gel will be applied to the treatment area. This gel helps the device glide smoothly over the skin and ensures optimal energy delivery. The hand piece will move across the treatment zones, at which time you will feel warm sensations, and an occasional tingle. It may be intense, but it will be short-lived.
There is no downtime or aftercare required after this procedure. You can workout, apply make-up, or go to dinner immediately after the treatment.

Each Sofwave treatment takes approximately 40-60 minutes. It is recommended to be repeated every 1-2 years.
Many patients describe the sensation as a wave of warmth followed by cooling. It is not unbearable, and any discomfort is only momentary. If you arrive early and request numbing cream, it can be applied prior to your procedure, although many patients do not require this. Alternatively, we offer laughing gas for all medical or cosmetic procedures, for an extra fee.
Risks are uncommon and include temporary mild swelling, redness, and rarely bruising, all of which resolve in a few hours to a few days. Moderate discomfort or pain may occur during the procedure, and rare complications include burns, blistering, or changes in skin pigmentation.
Results are best maintained by having a high-quality skin care regimen, wearing regular sun protection (sun breaks down collagen and elastic tissue), and repeating the procedure every 1-2 years.
Many patients start noticing improvements within a few weeks, with continued collagen production boosting results for up to 12 weeks post-treatment. Studies also show that many individuals maintain their results for a year or longer after only one session.
